Obituary for Charles E. Callahan
Charles E. Callahan, 80, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 11, 2008 at Holyoke Soldier’s Home. Born in Springfield, he was the son of the late George and Gladys (Sudbury) Callahan. Charles was a proud United States Marine Corps Veteran serving his country honorably during the Korean War. During his service, he earned the Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the United Nation Ribbon. He also worked for many years at Longiel Bus Company in East Longmeadow before his retirement. Charles was the beloved husband of the late Catherine  (Swikla) Callahan; a loving father to Robert Callahan and his wife Dawn Ellard, of Ludlow, and Timothy and Edward Callahan, both of Florida; a dear brother to Ruth Dinoia and the late George and Dorothy Callahan; and cherished grandfather to Melissa, Jonathan, and Jack Callahan. Funeral services with Military Honors were held privately by the family in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. Ludlow Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holyoke Soldiers Home 110 Cherry Street, Holyoke, Ma. 01040.Â
