Obituary for Crawford H. Walker Jr.
Crawford H. Walker Jr., age 87, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 6th, 2017 at home. He was born in Springfield to Crawford H. Walker Sr., and Marion (White) Walker. He was educated in the Springfield school system, graduating from the former Springfield Technical High School in 1947. He has lived in Ludlow for many years and was a former member of the First Church in Ludlow. He was a recreational pilot and an avid organ player, taking music lessons at Falcetti Music in Springfield. As a 20-year veteran of the United States Air Force, he participated in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, and was awarded many theater and personal medals including a bronze star. After his military career, he worked for the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company for 20 years, retiring in 1989. He leaves his beloved wife of almost 68 years, Mary E. (Brown) Walker of Ludlow; loving children Stephen Walker of Glenshaw, PA, and Susan Dufraine and her husband Michael of Manchester, CT; cherished grandchildren Matthew and Amanda Dufraine of Roanoke, VA, Erin and Robert Connors of Manchester, CT, Jennifer and Kevin Irvine of Quaker Hill, CT, and James Walker of Pittsburgh, PA; as well as his adored great-grandson Jack Connors. Sadly, Crawford was predeceased by his brother, Allan, and sister, Louise Ertel. Visiting hours are on Monday evening from 5:00-7:00pm at Ludlow Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at the Ludlow Funeral Home. Family and friends are asked to gather at the funeral home at 9:15am with a Chapel service beginning at 10:00am with Pastor Gary Grimes, followed by a burial ceremony with Military Honors in Island Pond Cemetery.
