Obituary for Darlene J. Rae
Darlene J. Rae, 48, of Ludlow was called home to be with God on Friday, September 10, 2021. Daughter of William Rae and the late Joanne (Wcislo) Rae, she was a lifelong resident of Ludlow where she was a 1991 graduate of Ludlow High School and devoted communicant of Christ the King Parish. Darlene worked for many years in retail for Lane Bryant and Kohl’s, where she met her “Kohls Peeps” including her amazing friend and cook day partner Brandon O’Brien, who was like the little brother she never had. Eventually, Dar began working alongside her brother Dan carrying on their parents business Bill’s Tire and Trailer in Ludlow where she treated her co-workers and clients like friends. Darlene was actively involved in the Ludlow Community as a member of the Board of Directors for Ludlow Community Center Randall Boys and Girls Club, also serving as secretary and member of many of its committees, as well as a former member of the Ludlow Rotary Club where she co-chaired the Annual Poker Run for 7 years.
Dar was so full of life and always the biggest light in the room. She will forever be remembered for her generous heart, her infamous 4 day Festa parties, her countless hours of volunteer work, her laugh that would make you laugh, her ridiculous antics, and always treating everyone like family. She loved golfing, shopping, cooking, the NEK, beach days, hosting her family events, her daily workouts at TGYF, zipping around in her mini cooper, and her cat Kitty “Fatima Lourdes”, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was the best Auntie Dar to her “nieces & nephews”, their friends, and especially to Bogart and her many “adopted” neighborhood cats.
Darlene leaves her beloved father William Rae and brothers Daniel and David Rae, all of Ludlow; step-brothers Andy Nocraz and wife Mary, and Brian Nocraz; her uncles Lawrence Wcislo and his wife Charlene and James Rae and wife Sandra; several cousins including Corinna Wcislo and children Harleigh and Godson Tyler, Jeffrey Wakem and wife Stacy and daughters Mackenzie and Olivia; Bryan Rae, James Rae, and Michael Walbridge; her Bestie and partner in crime Kelli McKenney and her family Dan, Mia Rose, and Danny Boy; and more friends than a girl could ever ask for. Her absence will be felt everyday, but she is reunited with her mom and Godmother Barbara Wakem who she has missed so much.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday evening from 4:00-7:00pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 16th. Family and friends are asked to gather for a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00am in Christ the King Parish followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
The family has requested that IN LIEU of flowers, donations be made in Darlene’s memory to The Ludlow Community Center Randall Boys and Girls Club 91 Claudia’s Way Ludlow, Ma. 01056 to continue her devotion to the club and the community.
