Obituary for David B. Irvine
David Barron Irvine, 86, passed away peacefully at home on August 20th, surrounded by family. A lifelong resident of Ludlow, he was the son of David and Allison (Easson) Irvine. Following graduation from Ludlow High School, he served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1948. He was the owner and operator of the David B. Irvine & Son Insurance Agency, founded by his father, for 43 years and 45 days, retiring on July 1, 1992. He was active in the Shriners for many years, and along with his father, he sponsored more than 50 children for operations and advanced medical care at the Shriners Hospital for Children. An active and engaged citizen of Ludlow, he served more than 30 years on the Sewer Commission and the Planning Board. He was also a precinct member for the Town and served as Chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee. David was a communicant of St. Cecilia Church in Wilbraham.
David leaves his beloved wife of 56 years, Ann LeDuc Irvine. He also leaves his two sons - Peter and wife Laurie of Roanoke, Virginia; and William and wife Mary-Lu of Springfield; and his daughter Mary and husband Jim Ustasiewski of Juneau, Alaska. David is also survived by his two loving granddaughters, Kaitlin of Philadelphia, PA, and Becca of Lynchburg, VA. David also leaves a nephew, Raymond LeDuc and wife Gail of Easthampton; a niece Charlene LeDuc of Rutland, VT; a niece Pricilla LeDuc and husband Bob Asher of Northampton; and many cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Dave’s memory to either Saint Cecilia Church for the church capital fund (42 Main St, Wilbraham, 01095); or to Baystate Hospice (P.O.Box 9058, Springfield, MA, 01102)
His family will receive friends at Ludlow Funeral Home at 432 East Street in Ludlow on Monday, August 25 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Friends and family are also asked to gather directly at St. Cecilia's Parish, 42 Main Street, Wilbraham, on Tuesday, August 26 at 10:00 am for a Mass of Christian Burial, followed by burial at Island Pond Cemetery in Ludlow.
