Obituary for David "Davey Crockett" Monette
David J. “Davey Crockett” Monette, 65, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2009 surrounded by his loving family and dear friends. Born in Springfield, son of the late Floyd and Irene (Lapointe) Monette, he graduated from Tech High School in 1961 and was a longtime resident of Ludlow. David was a United States Army Veteran proudly serving his country during Vietnam. He worked for many years in the printing industry, most recently at Bassette Printers. David was an avid golfer, tennis player and sportsfan. He was a member of the Relics softball team and enjoyed playing Monday night tennis at the Ludlow Tennis Club. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and friends, especially the friendships he made through his love of sports and many hobbies. David was the beloved husband of 42 years to Marilyn (Bishop) Monette; the loving father of Lynn Monette, of Medford; the dear brother of Floyd H, Monette Jr. and wife Dale, of Ludlow, and his twin brother Donald Monette and wife Barbara, of Sarasota, Fl.; cherished godfather to Michelle Richard, of Ludlow; and also leaves many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. David’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Leeds Veterans Hospital, Dr. Carmel Armon and his staff at Baystate, and the personal Care Agencies, Gentiva and All About You -for all the care, compassion and support that they have given to them. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 11:15 at Ludlow Funeral Home with Msgr. Gosselin presiding followed by burial with military honors in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8pm.
