Obituary for David Dec
David R. Dec, 51, of Ludlow was called home to be with God on Friday, September 23rd, 2011. Born in Springfield to the late Adolph and Rita (Blanchard) Dec, he was raised in Ludlow, a 1978 graduate of Ludlow High School and a communicant of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. He graduated from Porter and Chester Institute of Technology in Connecticut and was employed for Ely Tool-Young International in Springfield as a tool designer for 28 years. David is remembered by his family as an avid saltwater fisherman and gardener. He enjoyed cooking for and camping with his family and was a lifelong Red Sox and Patriots fan. David was the Committee Chairman of Boy Scout Troop 1774 for several years, of which his sons were members. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 19 years Sharlene (Peabody) Dec, his five children Emily, Ethan, Everett, Elias and Emmett all at home, his siblings Dolores and Thomas Scalzo of California, Dorita Dec of Springfield, Christine and Scott Peabody of Ludlow, Carolyn Redfern of Chicopee, Peter Dec living abroad in Oman, and Marlene Dec of Ludlow. He is predeceased by his sister Louise McQuade and his brother Paul Dec. Funeral services celebrating David’s life will be held on Wednesday September 28th, 2011. Family and friends are asked to gather for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Elizabeth Church, with Father David Darcy officiating, burial will follow in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday evening from 4:00pm-7:00pm and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s memory to: David R. Dec Memorial Fund for the Benefit of the Dec children, C/O Country Bank in Wilbraham.
