Deborah Ann Gero (Yon), 68, of Wilbraham, Massachusetts, passed away January 17, 2026. Born and raised in Springfield, MA, Deborah carried her roots with pride and never lost the warmth, humor, and larger-than-life presence that defined her.
Deborah built a long career in quality assurance at MassMutual, a profession she took seriously and was deeply proud of. She retired knowing she had done her work well which is something that mattered greatly to her. She was diligent, detail-oriented, and held herself to a high standard, qualities that carried through every part of her life.
Above all else, Deborah loved deeply. She absolutely adored her pets Punkin, Biggie, Little, and Gypsy, as well as her grandpets, Yoda and Ling. She was an avid tag saler and shopper, always on the hunt for a good find and a special gift for her loved ones. Deborah had a big personality, a generous heart, and a way of making others feel seen. She left an impression everywhere she went.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Charles Yon and June Yon (Fales); her brother Chucky Yon; her sister Patty Baiardi; her nephew Eddie Baiardi; and her niece Carrie Yon.
Deborah’s greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her husband, Roy Gero; her beloved children, Roy William and Jessica Owens; and her son-in-law, Benjamin Owens. Her memory will also be treasured by her brother, Bobby Yon, and her many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Deborah’s memory to Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center, honoring her lifelong love for animals.
Deborah loved reading obituaries, and it feels fitting that hers reflects a life full of love, loyalty, personality, and connection. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those lucky enough to have known her.
