Delfina Terrinca, aged 90, peacefully departed from this world surrounded by her loving family on Saturday December 9th, 2023. She was born in the city of Chaves, Portugal, to her parents, Antonio and Delfina Batista. She immigrated to the United States in 1966 alongside her family and settled in the town of Ludlow. Delfina worked for many years in the textile industry, but ultimately her greatest love was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. We all gave her a purpose in this life a purpose so great that carries on through each generation. Engrained in all of us is the importance of family and love. This love has carried on to each one of us. Caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren gave her immense joy, whether it be cooking their favorite meals, taking walks, or just being in their presence. Delfina is survived by her loving children; Duarte and his wife Kelly Terrinca of Florida, Delfina Stevens and her long time partner Douglas Wright of South Dennis, Graciette and her husband Brian Lavoie of Belchertown, Bert (Humberto Jr) and his wife Linda Terrinca of Ludlow. Her memory will forever be cherished by her grandchildren: Cori and her husband Gabriel, Kristina and her husband Kyle, Samantha and her husband Andrew, Nikolas and his wife Karissa, Paige, Alec, Abigail, Betinho, Robbie and Mikal. Additionally, she leaves behind her beloved great-grandchildren: Isabella, Gabriel Jr, Ava, Gigi, Nina, Mason, and Sydney. A piece of her will live inside each one of us. She was predeceased by her husband Humberto Terrinca. Although we are saddened with grief to let her go, it brings us great joy and comfort to know she will finally be reunited with her husband.
The family would also like to give a big thank you to all the staff at Palmer HealthCare and New England hospice who took exceptional care of our Mother in her final days. We are eternally grateful for your kindness. An excerpt from a poem her granddaughter Cori lovingingly wrote about her Vovo : “We will all learn from you Grow from you and Remember you You, Delfina are our Hero”. May you rest in eternal peace Vovo, we will treasure everything you ever taught us. We love you The family held a private service on Wednesday December 13th at Ludlow Funeral Home.
