Obituary for Domingos Rua
Domingos Rua, 81, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 19, 2025. Born in Cervos, Montalegre, Portugal, son of the late Domingos Mourão and Ana Rua, he immigrated to the United States in 1971 and settled in Ludlow where he was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. He worked for many years at Art Cement and later at Carando Foods in Springfield, MA from where he retired. Domingos took great pride in his vegetable garden and enjoyed his membership at the Gremio Lusitano Portuguese Club. He was a great soccer enthusiast and passionate about F.C. Porto; but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. Domingos was the beloved husband of Lucia (Agostinho) Rua, who predeceased him in 2019; a dear brother to Maria Pereira and husband Amandio, and a devoted uncle to nieces and nephews Elizabeth Pereira, Christina Carroll, Michael Pereira, Albertina Rua, Amandio Rua, Lisa Rua-Ware, Dennis Fialho and Nelson Fialho; he also leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, extended family members and dear friends both here and in Portugal. Walk Through No Contact Visiting hours for Domingos will be held on Tuesday, March 25th from 9:15-10:30 in Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Parish followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Domingo's memory to the American Cancer Association (https://donate.cancer.org).
