Obituary for Donald F. Garrison
Donald F. Garrison, 81, of Ludlow passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 23, 2008.  Born in Springfield, the son of the late Theodore and Annie (House) Garrison he was a 1943 graduate of Classical High School and worked for 36 years at the former Massasoit Engraving Company of Springfield and P+B Engraving as a photo-engraver. Donald was a longtime member of the Ludlow Country Club where he was honored with a lifetime membership. In 1950 he held the course record and he and his uncle, Art House, were the first team from Western Massachusetts to win the Pro-Amateur Championship of the state of Connecticut and Western Mass and he captained the Ludlow Western Massachusetts Four Ball Team for many years.  He was a proud United States Naval Veteran serving his country honorably as a signalman during WWII aboard the USS Frankovich and the USS Weber.  Donald was predeceased by his beloved wife of Angelina Garrison in 2007, together their passion for traveling took them all over Europe, especially their favorite destination, Italy.  He will be sadly missed by his niece Carol Beckwith of Springfield; nephews Glenn Beckwith and his wife Marsha of Ludlow, Alan Beckwith of Springfield and Ronald Beckwith of Tucson, AZ; his great-nephew Jason Beckwith of Ludlow; 2 great-nieces Katherine Beckwith and Emily Beckwith both of Tucson and his great-great-nephew Samuel Beckwith of Ludlow.  He was predeceased by his sister Muriel Beckwith in 1981.  Donald’s family would like to thank his home health care worker, Linda Rourk as well as the nurses and staff at Wingate Nursing Home in East Longmeadow for the compassionate care they gave him in his final days with them, especially his nurse Denise.  Funeral services will be held Saturday August 2nd, 2008 from the Ludlow Funeral Home.  A chapel service at the funeral home with Father John Connors will begin at 9:30am; burial with Military Honors will follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery.  Visiting hours will precede the service Saturday morning from 8:00-9:30am.  Donations in Donald’s name may be made to Quabog Valley Hospice 42B Wright St. Palmer, MA. 01069 or to the charity of ones choice.
