It is with profound sadness that the family of Doreen (Arslanian) Retzlaff announces her passing on July 2, 2025. Born and raised in Springfield, she later moved with her beloved husband to Ludlow to build their life and raise their family. Doreen was a devoted wife to Gary Retzlaff and a loving mother to Gary and Eric Retzlaff, as well as a doting grandmother to Ean and Hunter Retzlaff. She is lovingly remembered by her siblings George Arslanian with wife Michelle, Pete Chakour with wife Linda, her nephews and nieces: Joseph Arslanian, Megan Arslanian, James Cronk, and Jennifer Freeman, and daughter in law Amanda Retzlaff. Doreen loved working as a teacher, positively impacting young lives. She also worked at a local coffee shop and spent time at Randall’s Farm, where she enjoyed being part of the community and connecting with people. Her greatest joy came from caring for her family—her beloved children, her cats, and her grandchildren. Doreen's warmth, kindness, and unyielding devotion to family and community will be deeply missed. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched, the roots she nurtured, and the love she shared. A funeral service to celebrate Doreen’s life will be held at Ludlow Funeral Home (432 East St., Ludlow, MA) on Saturday, July 12, 2025. Visiting hours will begin at 11 AM-12:30pm, followed by the service at 1230-1 PM. Friends and loved ones are warmly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Doreen’s name to Shriners Hospital in Springfield.
