Obituary for Doris E. Brailsford
Doris E. (Knapp) Brailsford, 84, of Ludlow passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 21, 2023. Born and raised in Weinheim, Germany. She married her beloved husband Philip in 1963 and moved to the United States in 1965, where she taught herself English and was a homemaker. She has lived in Ludlow since 1974 and enjoyed gardening and working in the yard, sitting on the porch watching the birds and feeding the squirrels, playing BINGO, and spending time with her grandson, Damien. Doris was the best wife to her late husband Philip, a loving mother to her daughter Judy Cowles and son-in-law Rob, and a cherished grandmother to Damien. She was selfless and had a huge heart. She cared about everyone and was always willing to lend a hand. Doris also leaves her sister Gerda Knapp, brother Kurt Knapp, half-brother Jurgen Schmiedel and many caring nieces and nephews. Sadly, besides her husband she was also predeceased by her sisters: Ruth and Irma. Funeral services for Doris were held privately by her family and arrangements were entrusted to Ludlow Funeral Home.
