Obituary for Dorothy B. (Bogdan) Martin
Dorothy B. (Bogdan) Martin, 86, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2012. Born in Chicopee, daughter of the late Marek and Karolina (Growacka) Bogdan, she was a 1942 graduate of Chicopee High School and lived in Ludlow for over 50 years. Dorothy was a bookkeeper for Coca Cola Co., Kings Dept. Store and BMD Lumber before her retirement. She also had a passion for golf, bowling, cake decorating, traveling; and especially enjoyed spending time with her siblings, extended family, and their children. Dorothy was the beloved wife of 63 years to Robert A. Martin; a dear sister to Josephine Thornlow, Genevieve Elie, Alice Robak, Elizabeth Strycharz, Florence Bordeaux, Phyllis McKay, Mildred Irzyk, Barbara Bieinia, and the late Mark Bogdan, Mary Paluch, and Frances Ryder; and also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 20, 2012. Friends and family are asked to gather for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 am at St. Stanislaus Basilica in Chicopee followed by burial at 11 am in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. Visiting hours are on Thursday from 4-6pm.
