Dorothy (Czornobaj) Maksymiw, 90, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024 surrounded by love. Dorothy was born in Ukraine to Ivan and Anna (Hordyj) Czornobaj and immigrated to the United States in 1951 settling in Ludlow. She was an active and devoted member of Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, where she loved participating in their pierogi sales, and was also a member of the Ukrainian National Association. She worked for many years at Valmont in the Ludlow Mills from where she retired in 1999. Dorothy enjoyed her travels with her husband to Rome, the Vatican, and especially their homeland Ukraine; and in her spare time, she loved her flowers, cooking for any occasion, and going to the casinos where she was once a jackpot winner.
Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Michael Maksymiw who predeceased her in 2001; a loving mother to George Maksymiw and companion Maria Lee, of Cape Coral, Fl., and Michael Maskymiw, of Ludlow, a dear sister to Olga Yakymiw, and the late Walter Czornobaj, Slava Boyko, and Irene Levsky; a cherished grandmother to Amanda Jerome and husband Brian, and Jocelyn Foti and husband Chris; great-grandmother to Beau, Tucker, Harper and Riley; and also leaves many loving extended family members, dear friends, and her beloved church family.
Funeral services for Dorothy will be held on Tuesday, December 17th. Visiting hours are from 9:00-10:00am at Ludlow Funeral Home with Panahyda at 10:00am. Divine Liturgy will be held at 11:00am in Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church celebrated by Father Andriy Krip followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery
