Obituary for Dorothy T. (Zguro) Afonso
Dorothy T. (Zguro) Afonso, 89, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2022 with her loving daughter by her side. Born in Springfield, daughter of the late Toli and Constance Zguro, she was a graduate of High School of Commerce. Dorothy was a longtime resident of Ludlow where she and her husband Arthur raised their family. She was a member of the Ludlow Lioness’ and loved to play cards, especially poker, and also enjoyed bowling and ceramics; but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Arthur Afonso, who predeceased her in 1999; a loving mother to Andrea Adam and Fiance Scott Guinazu of CT, and Arthur Afonso, Jr. of Ludlow; a cherished grandmother to Alyssa Afonso; a dear sister to the late Charles Zguro, Georgia Colella, and Victoria Luarassi; and also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.Funeral services for Dorothy will be held on Wednesday, October 5th. Visitation is from 10:00-11:00am in Ludlow Funeral Home concluding with a funeral home chapel service at 11:00am followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy’s memory to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (komen.org)
