Obituary for Douglas Acheson
Douglas Acheson, 90, of Ludlow passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, August 17, 2009.  Born in Syracuse, NY to the late Albert and P. Kate (Shaw) Acheson he was a long time Ludlow resident and faithful member of First Church in Ludlow.  Douglas attended Syracuse University and graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, Long Island, New York.  He served his country honorably during World War II and was decorated with the Merchant Marine Combat Bar and Atlantic War Zone Bar.  He was the beloved husband of 43 years to Marilee (Livermore) Acheson of Ludlow; caring father to Susan Acheson and her partner Joseph Wadsworth of Ludlow, Karen Foye and husband Kevin of Somers, CT., Robert Acheson and wife Bethany of Beverly, MA., Pamela Burt and her husband Richard of Stanwood, WA and Steven Acheson and his wife Zoe of Phoenix; cherished grandfather of Owen, Avery and Egan Foye, Connor and Abigail Wadsworth and Ridley Acheson.  Douglas was predeceased by his brother Cedric and sisters Mildred and Dorothy.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 22, 2009.  Family and friends are asked to gather for a service at First Church in Ludlow beginning at 10:00am with Reverend Frank Groggett presiding.   Burial will follow in Adams Cemetery, Wilbraham.  Visiting hours are Friday evening from 5:00-8:00pm and Ludlow Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.  Donations may be made in Douglas’ memory to First Church in Ludlow 859 Center St. Ludlow, MA. 01056.
