Obituary for Douglas Marble
Douglas R. Marble, 59, of Belchertown passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on August 6, 2009 after a long battle with cancer.  He was born in Ludlow to the late Richard and Margaret (Finn) Marble.  As a 1968 graduate of   Ludlow High School, he attended Salem State College, and later Western New England College. He lived in Palmer for 13 years, before moving to Belchertown in 1986.  Douglas served his country honorably for 9 years in the Army National Guard Yankee Division at Westover and worked as a salesman for Sysco Food Services of Connecticut, Kraft Foods and S.S. Pierce.  Doug loved working in his yard, as well as on home improvement and construction projects for the family.  He leaves his beloved wife of 37 years, Elizabeth (Stewart) Marble of Belchertown; loving daughters Jennifer Toelken and her husband Rick of Monson, and Pamela Belden and her husband Robert of Chicopee; cherished grandchildren Travis, Alyssa, Gabriel, Abigail and Isabelle.  He was the caring brother of his twin sister Diane McCarthy and her husband James of Ludlow, W. Scott Marble and his wife Kimberly of Sturbridge, and Sandra McCormac and her husband James of Liverpool, NY;  his aunt and uncle, Janet and Ross Marble of West Springfield, MA, aunts Marilyn Marble of Florida and Doris Finn of Maine as well as many loving family members, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends throughout the United States.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 10th, 2009 at 9:30am from the Ludlow Funeral Home, 432 East St. with Chapel services beginning at 10:00am with Reverend Frank Groggett presiding.  Burial with Military Honors will follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery.  Visiting hours are Sunday evening from 4:00-7:00pm.  Donations may be made in Douglas’ memory to the American Cancer Society or Quaboag Valley Hospice, 42b Wright St., Palmer, MA 01069.
