Obituary for Douglas Paul DesLauriers
Douglas P. DesLauriers, 45, of Ludlow was called home to be with God on Saturday, January 24th, 2009. Born in Holyoke, he was the son of the late Gerard and Lucille (Varin) DesLauriers. Douglas was raised and educated in Chicopee at both the St. Joan of Arc School and Chicopee Comprehensive High School class of 1981, before moving to Ludlow 10 years ago. He received his Associates Degree in Respiratory Care from STCC, his Bachelors Degree from Westfield State College in Psychology and PhD. in Sleep Physiology from Columbia State University. Douglas took great pride in his work and the people he helped over the years with their sleep disorders. A loving and kind man he was a gentle giant who always gave of himself to others, he was kind, caring and touched many lives, he cherished the time spent with his family, friends, clients and also enjoyed bicycle riding, cars and music. Douglas “Muffin” leaves his beloved wife of 15 years Patricia “Muffin” (Parenteau) DesLauriers of Ludlow; loving son John and daughter Dominique “Binky” of Ludlow and Daniil Dmitriev of Agawam, who was like a son to him; brothers Denis, David of Chicopee as well as his sister Donna Jones of Westfield; many caring nieces and nephews and his treasured Aunt Bunny. Douglas was predeceased by a brother Arthur Joseph “AJ” and a niece Melanie Dennis. Family and friends are asked to gather for a Liturgy of Christian Burial on Thursday, January 29th, 2009 at 9:30am in St. Rose De Lima Church in Chicopee, followed by burial in St. Rose De Lima Cemetery. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Ludlow Funeral Home.
