Douglas Stevens Sanford, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by his daughters on June 17th, 2025. Douglas was born in Ludlow to the late Harry and Doris (Stevens) Sanford and was a lifelong resident and graduate of Ludlow High School Class of 1962. He was a self-employed auto mechanic and proud business owner of Sanford's Sunoco and Doug's Tire & Alignment Co. for 25 years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, golf, the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles.
He had a passion for nature and loved the beauty of his country, often reminiscing about the landscapes and places he had visited. Doug will also be remembered as an animal lover, especially dogs, and had a special place in his heart for "Sugar" a German Shepherd - Collie mix who was his sidekick at his business.
He leaves his daughters Christine Sanford and her partner, Scott Gorrie, Heather Sanford, and Carrie Ribeiro and her husband Joe; his sister Linda Jo Gershowitz and husband Melvin; grandchildren Nicholas, Karley, Nathan, Nicole and Jack; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
