Obituary for Duarte M. Lima
Duarte M. Lima, 63, a longtime resident of Ludlow passed away at home on May 6, 2006. Born on August 1, 1942 in Graciosa Acores, Portugal the son of Miguel and Georgina Lima he was raised in Portugal and came to Ludlow in 1956. He worked as a foreman at Rugcraft in Springfield and later retired from the Ludlow School System after 20 years of service. He was a quiet, hardworking man greatly respected by all who knew him. He enjoyed travel, woodworking and gardening and being a devoted family man who enjoyed holiday gatherings and playing with his grandchildren. He was a devoted communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and a former member of the Gremio Lusitano Club. He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years Madalena (Gregoreo) Lima of Ludlow; a son Richard and his wife Kimberly of Ludlow and a daughter Angela Lima of Toronto, Canada; stepchildren Richard Nunes and his wife Teresa of London, England and Jennifer Manor and her husband Peter of Londonderry, NH; his 4 grandchildren who will miss him dearly, Emily and Adam Lima and Reece and Ashley Manor; and a dear brother Manuel Lima and his wife Hazel of Ludlow. Funeral services will be held Tuesday May 9, 2006 at 9:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are Monday from 5-8pm. Donations may be made in Duarte’s memory to the American Heart Association PO Box 3049 Syracuse, NY, 13220.
