Dwight F. “Skip” Young, 71, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Skip was the beloved son of the late Dwight O. and Marie (Flanagan) Young and was a lifelong Ludlow resident. He graduated from Ludlow High School in 1964 and attended Bridgeton Academy and Central Connecticut State University. He was also a proud member of the US Army Reserves and worked for Chicopee Industrial Contractors (CIC) before retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening, and especially spending time with his family. Skip was the beloved husband of 19 years to Geraldine “Gerri” (Ziemba) Young; a loving father to his son Sean Young and wife Karen, of NJ, his daughter Heidi Potvin and husband Josh, of West Brookfield; and his step-son Steven Knightly; an adoring grandpa to Liam, Chase, Ella, Lily, Madeline, and Evelyn; a dear brother to Gerald Young, David Young, Kathleen Pease, and the late Robert Young; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Visitation will be held for Skip on Saturday, November 4th from 10:00am-12:00pm in Ludlow Funeral Home concluding with a Celebration of Life Service at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Skip’s memory to Caring for a Cure (Caringforacure.org) or the charity of one’s choice.
