Obituary for Eileen Mary (Canning) Kukla
Eileen M. (Canning) Kukla, 82, of Ludlow passed away peacefully September 10th, with her loving family at her side. Born in Watford, England to the late Patrick and Josephine (Mulholland) Canning, she immigrated to the United states under the sponsorship of her uncle in NYC. She there met her husband of 52 years, Edward C. Kukla, who predeceased her in 2004. While in NYC she worked in Manhattan as a stenographer for Electrolux. After moving to New England she worked at the Wall Street Journal, Ludlow Hospital and retired from Sears in 1988. She loved spending time with her family, and friends she made throughout the years. She was a member of the British Wives Club and enjoyed their monthly get-togethers. She was an avid reader and traveler, in her spare time she enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. Eileen is survived by her children, Karen Manring of Sterling, MA, John of Three Rivers, Joseph and his wife Denise (Lariviere) of Ludlow, Thomas of Ludlow, Christopher of Slidell, LA. and Teresa Dugre and her husband James of Springfield: 14 cherished grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services for Eileen will be held Wednesday, September 15th, 2010 at 8:30am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated in Christ the King Church at 9:30am followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Visiting hours are Tuesday evening from 4:00pm-8:00pm and donations may be made in Eileen’s memory to the charity of ones choice.
