Obituary for Elaine (Girouard) Drozdowski
Elaine A. (Girouard) Drozdowski, 85, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Agnes (Ouimette) Girouard. A graduate of the High School of Commerce, she resided in Springfield with her husband, Mitchell J. Drozdowski Sr., until moving to Ludlow in 1961. Elaine enjoyed volunteering at Baystate Medical Center, at her church, and at the election polls. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family and friends. Elaine was the loving wife of the late Mitchell J. Drozdowski Sr., who passed away in 1993. Elaine will be deeply missed by her five children, Michael and his companion, Pamela, of Florida; Michelle Hiersche, of Ludlow; Mitchell and his wife, Mary, of Hampden; Marcy Crossman, of New York; and Mark and his wife, Kristen, of Connecticut, along with 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters, Janeth Girouard, of Spencer, and Gloria Girouard, of Connecticut; a brother, Ronald, of Springfield; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends, especially Clara Prince of Chicopee and Jean Boyer of Ludlow. Elaine’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Baystate Hospice for the compassionate care they gave to her. Funeral services for Elaine will be held on Friday, February 15th at 9:00 am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00am in St. Elizabeth Parish followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are Thursday evening from 4:00-6:00pm at Ludlow Funeral Home, 432 East Street, Ludlow.
