Obituary for Elena (Mammarelli) Petrolati
Elena (Mammarelli) Petrolati, 92, of Ludlow was called safely home to be with God on Wednesday, March 18th, 2009. Born in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Loretta (DiLuzio) Mammarelli. She has lived in Ludlow for over 60 years and was a faithful communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, where she served her church in many ways through the St Mary’s Ladies Guild and the Alter Society. Elena enjoyed cooking and made Sunday dinners for birthdays until she entered the nursing home in June 2008. Elena loved her family and gave to them in so many ways and always put them first. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Amedeo, who predeceased her in 1999. Elena was the loving mother of Gerald Petrolati and Harry Petrolati both of Ludlow; caring grandmother to Amedeo, Dale, Niccolo, Jonathan, Drew, Rachael and Bethany; sister to Naldo “Nardi” Mammarelli of Wilbraham. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 23rd, 2009 at 9:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial beginning at 10:00am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 3:00pm-6:00pm. Donations may be made in Elena’s memory to the Massachusetts Citizens For Life, 109 Center Street Ludlow, MA.
