Obituary for Elina (Fonseca) Charpentier
Elina “Lina” (Fonseca) Charpentier, 92, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully at home on July 2, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Ludlow to the late John and Percinda (Canedo) Fonseca, she was a lifelong resident and 1948 graduate of Ludlow High School. Lina worked at the Springfield Newspaper from 1948-1992 from where she retired, and in her free time, she enjoyed going to antique shows, gardening, and coin collecting; but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. Lina was predeceased by her former husband Robert Charpentier in 2001 and leaves behind her loving family; daughter Amy Rodrigo and husband Ray, of Ludlow; grandchildren Joy Vega and husband Steve, of OH, Melissa Rodrigo and husband Norberto Colon, of OH, and Todd Rodrigo and wife Andrea, of Ludlow; great-grandchildren Landon and Jayden Vega, Jackson and Cruz Colon, and Owen and Brooklyn Rodrigo, and longtime companion Edward Palozej. Visiting hours for Lina will be held on Monday, July 31st from 10:00-11:15am in Ludlow Funeral Home concluding with a service at 11:30am followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Lina’s memory to Dakin Humane Society or Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
