Obituary for Ella Mae (Scarfe) Duquette
Ella Mae (Scarfe) Duquette, 81, of Ludlow, died peacefully on April 1, 2013. Born in Springfield, daughter of the late Clarence and Norma (Grimshaw) Scarfe, she was a longtime Ludlow resident where she was a communicant of the Catholic Community of St. Elizabeth. Ella worked for many years at Alamac in the Indian Orchard Mills and later in the cafeteria for the Ludlow Public Schools before retiring. She was a longtime troop leader for the Girl Scouts and was actively involved at camp Wachogi in Chicopee. She also had a talent and passion for crafts and sewing; but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. Ella was the beloved wife of 60 years to William E. Duquette; a loving mother to Scott Duquette and wife Jennifer, of Belchertown, William Duquette, Jr. and wife Andrea, of Pine Bush, NY, and Kathy DeWalt and husband Jarius, of Montclair, NJ; a dear sister to Henry and Clarence Scarfe, Margaret Terwilliger, and Irene Webber; a cherished grandmother of 6; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services for Ella will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Ludlow Funeral Home at 10:00am. Visiting hours are on Wednesday from 5:00-7:00pm and before the service on Thursday from 9:00-9:45am. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family at Island Pond Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ella’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
