EMIL F. HOECKH
1939 - 2020
Emil F. Hoeckh, 81, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2020 with his loving family by his side. Born in Oberndorf, Germany, son of the late Erwin and Theresia (Wellhaeuser) Hoeckh, he immigrated to the United States as a young man and proudly served in the United States Army. Throughout his career, he held several positions in the textile industry including Arrow Elastic Corp and Wrights in West Warren from where he retired. In the early 60’s, Emil, blessed with great soccer ability, played soccer for several soccer clubs in the area; primarily for the Gremio Lusitano Soccer Club in Ludlow helping them win many games. He played soccer, in his words, “for the love of the game and sometimes supper too." He was a former member of the Gremio Lusitano Club, Lusitano Alumni and Fans, the Ludlow Fish and Game Club, and the first person of non-Portuguese heritage to be accepted as a member of the Portuguese American Citizens Club. Emil was the beloved husband of 58 years to Julieta (Nascimento) Hoeckh; a devoted father to Richard Emil Hoeckh and wife Melanie, and the late Julie-Ann Hoeckh; a loving grandfather to Sandi Montana Hoeckh and Sara Adie Hoeckh; a dear brother to Erna Serino, of Virginia; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. A public walk through, no contact visitation will be held on Friday, October 2nd, from 8:30-10:00am in Ludlow Funeral Home. Due to ongoing restrictions, additional funeral services will be held privately by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Emil’s memory to Our Lady of Fatima Church 438 Winsor St. Ludlow, MA. 01056.
