Obituary for Engracia Fernandes Gomes
Engracia (Fernandes) Gomes, 98, of Ludlow passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday June 23, 2019. Born in Covas do Barroso, Portugal, she emigrated to Ludlow in 1975 and was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Engracia enjoyed gardening and attending the Ludlow Senior Center, going for long walks and time spent with her cherished grandchildren. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose Bento Gomes who predeceased her in 2007. She leaves her loving children Maria Goncalves, Herminio Gomes, Arlindo Gomes, Aida Esteves, Lucia Gomes, Fernanda Gomes and the late Carlos Gomes; 15 adored grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; predeceased by her brothers Augusto, Joao and Carlos Fernandes and her sister Gloria Esteves. She also leaves many caring nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 27, 2019 from the Ludlow Funeral Home. Visiting hours are Thursday morning from 8:30-10:15am with a Liturgy of Christian Mass celebrated at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery.
