Etta (Checkwicz) Sergneri, 88, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family on Monday, January 19, 2015. Born in Holyoke she was a Ludlow resident for many years and belonged to the former St. Mary of the Assumption Parish Etta was the beloved wife of the late Elio “Paul” Sergneri who predeceased her in 1986. She leaves her loving children, Paul Sergneri and his wife Michelle of Chicopee, Dolores Martin and husband William of Agawam and Karen Alves and husband Jimmy of Belchertown; 8 devoted grandchildren and her caring brother Fred Checkwicz of Chicopee; Sadly Etta was also predeceased by her grandson Richard Bennet, her sister Jean Wojcik and a brother Ed Checkwicz.
Visiting hours are Friday morning only from 9:30am-11:00am at the funeral home with a Chapel service beginning at 11:00am, followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
