Obituary for Eugene L. Abair
Funeral services for Eugene will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
Eugene L. Abair, 94, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2014. Born in Ludlow on August 18, 1920, son of the late Ernest and Alvah Abair, he was a 1938 graduate of Ludlow High School and then Springfield Community College. Eugene was a United States Navy Veteran proudly serving his country during WWII and a communicant of St. Elizabeth Parish. Eugene was a trusted agent for John Hancock Life Ins. Co. and a friend to many area families for 31 years before retiring in 1980. He was also an accomplished drummer with the Golden Bells Orchestra and played with several area Polish Bands during the 40’s and 50’s. His love of music and kindness towards people transcended to everyone who knew him. Eugene was predeceased by his beloved wife of 49 years, Elaine (Caron) Abair, son Russell Abair, and daughter Michele Shannon. He is survived by his daughter Kathleen Abdow and husband John; his current wife Lorraine (Beauchamp) Abair; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
