Obituary for Eugene Ptaszkiewicz

Eugene Ptaszkiewicz passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025 surrounded by family after a long term illness. Eugene was born in Springfield, MA on October 19, 1941. He was one of 15 children of Theodore and Jane Ptaszkiewicz. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years Patricia (Bousquet) Ptaszkiewicz, his children Lisa Fueston, Cherie Ptaszkiewicz, Darlene Fontoura and husband Gerson and Eugene Ptaszkiewicz Jr. and his wife Tiffany. He also leaves his grandchildren Jennifer Lachut and her husband Kamil, Kyle Fontoura, Megan Fueston, Matthew Fueston, Sarah and husband Jay Perez and Justin Torrey. Chase Ptaszkiewicz, Conner Ptaszkiewicz, Alison Chmielewski, Eric Chmielewski. Great grandchildren Christopher, Ariana, Alex, Aleah, Jayla, and Anthony. Great great grandchildren Syl, Ali and Laniah. He also leaves behind his long time best friend Roger Zepke. He was survived by his sisters Millie Metcalf, Dorothy McGuire, Eugene's twin sister Irene Zaranek, Sandy Moquin, Linda Banas and Susan Mitchell. He was predeceased by his brothers Thomas, James, Robert and Kenneth Ptaszkiewicz and his sisters Vera Dunn, Betty Soja, Haushie Melikian and Elaine Murphy. First and foremost Eugene was an avid New England Patriots and Red Sox fan. If a game was on, you knew where to find him. Eugene loved hunting, fishing and spending time on his boat Gizmo. He was very artistic and a talented carpenter, often making things out of nothing with his wood working skills. If anyone needed something done or a helping hand he was your go to man. He also had a habit of bringing home stray animals. Some ended up as family pets and others he found homes for. You never knew if a goat was going to be spending the night in the bathroom or a rooster on the porch or another dog or cat to add to the family. He couldn't resist helping a forgotten animal. When the grandchildren were younger you could always find grandpa in the pool with them, jumping waves with them at the beach, sliding in the snow or working in the garden. Funeral services for Eugene will be held on Tuesday October 14, 2025 from the Ludlow Funeral Home. Visitation is from 10:00-11:30am with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 11:30am, followed by a funeral procession to Island Pond Cemetery for his burial.
