Obituary for Eva (LaBelle) Ericksberg
Eva T. (LaBelle) Ericksberg, 89, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2017. Born in Springfield, Eva was a 1945 graduate of Cathedral High School. She lived many years in the “Hungry Hill” section of Springfield, where she met and married Alvah O. Ericksberg. They moved to Ludlow in 1955, where she was a communicant of the Former St. Mary of the Assumption Church and currently of St. Elizabeth’s Parish. She was employed by the Ludlow School System as a noon mother, when her children were young, and later took jobs with Sears & Roebuck and then Valley Bank. She was an avid camper when her children were growing up and was very active in the community. She served as President of the LHS Grid Iron Moms in the late 60’s. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling across the United States and Europe with her husband of 67 years and being actively involved with the senior centers in both Ludlow and Belchertown. She was predeceased by her husband Alvah and her son Alan. She was a loving mother to her children; Teri Houghton and husband Dave Spinney of Louisiana, Carl Ericksberg and wife Karen of West Springfield, Ken Ericksberg and his wife Pam of S.C., and a daughter-in-law Diane, also of S.C.; cherished grandmother to Jaime, Richie, Amber, Tracy, Chad and Maureen; adoring great grandmother to Casey, Kristen, Mary, Riley, Colton, Megan, and Mia; great-great grandmother to Madelyn Grace, Casey Tate, and Jordyn; dear sister to the late Betty Leger, Marie Vecchiarelli, Madelyn Hatch, and Joe LaBelle; and also leaves many loving extended family and dear friends. Eva’s funeral services will be held privately at a later date and donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. (alz.org)
