Evelyn (Nowak) Scyocurka passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 28, 2025. She was born in Ludlow on June 11, 1952, to the late Victor and Blanche (Orzulak) Nowak, and was a lifelong resident. After graduating Ludlow High School in 1970, she attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and in 1974 earned her BA in Education. Evelyn spent 42 years as a valued and dedicated employee of the United States Postal Service, working in the Chicopee Falls branch. She was full of energy and always ready for an adventure. She especially loved to travel and enjoyed cruising the Caribbean and the Mediterranean Seas. Evelyn is survived by her loving husband, Mark Scyocurka, who is grateful for their 33 years of marriage together. She also leaves behind her sister Rosemary Nowak of Ludlow and a very large extended family consisting of in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. Evelyn was inquisitive, kind and genuinely caring; she never missed an opportunity to spend time with those she loved. She was a blessing to her family and friends, all of whom will miss her very much. Funeral services for Evelyn will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 9:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home, with a Liturgy of Christian Mass celebrated at 10:00am in Christ the King Church, followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visiting hours at the Funeral Home are Monday evening from 5:00-7:00pm. In lieu of flowers it’s the wish of Evelyn’s family that donations be made in her memory to: St Jude Children's Hospital, at stjude.org.
