Fernando Batista, 100, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on June 4, 2021. Fernando was born in Ludlow, MA on March 9, 1921, son of the late Maria Juliano and Joao Batista. As a small child, his family returned to Portugal to live in their small village known as Padornelos, Montalegre, where he happily lived into adulthood. He proudly served in the Portuguese Cavalry in Chaves. Fernando married the love of his life, the late Maria Vasques in 1947 and continued to live in Padornelos with their children, Maria Fernanda and Augusto. Faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and member of the Gremio Lusitano Club for many years. He worked at different companies; ultimately, he retired from Smith & Wesson.
