Fernando Dasilva, 101, passed away peacefully on the morning of December 26, 2024 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving son and daughter in law. Born in Tondela, Portugal in 1923 he worked for PanAir Brazil Airlines for many years before immigrating to the United States to further better the education for his son. Fernando worked at Jahn Foundry in Springfield where he was a talented molder. He was the beloved husband of the late Natalia (Malaquias) Dasilva who sadly predeceased him in 2021. He leaves his loving son Gil and his wife Exie of East Longmeadow; adored granddaughter Abbey and her husband John Aevazelis and his cherished great grandchildren Wyatt and Phoebe Aevazelis. Fernando was also predeceased by his daughter-in-law Caroline Silva and his brothers in Portugal. He celebrated his 100th birthday in July, 2023 with great gusto. One hundred never looked so good! Many of his Portuguese family and friends came for the celebration. It was a wonderful party and a testament to how strong he was and how loved. A true dog lover, he had lots of time and morning snuggles everyday with Charlie, their sweet Havanese. He will be missed by his best furry friend and the rest of his family and friends. Rest in peace,beloved Visavo, Vovo and Father. Funeral services for Fernando will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025 from the Ludlow Funeral Home. Visitation is Thursday morning from 11:00am-12:00pm followed by a funeral procession to Island Pond Cemetery for Rites of Committal.
