Obituary for Fernando Dias
Fernando Dias fell into the arms of Jesus on March 17, 2021. Born on July 8, 1936 in Travassos da Cha, Portugal, he was son of Carmelina Dias Silva, step-father Dinis Silva, and Jose Afonso. Fernando was a devoted communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, retired from Danaher Easco Handtools, and active member of Gremio Lusitano Club and a member of the Portuguese Marine Corps. Fernando was the kindest man. Sincere, honest, loving, straightforward, and giving. His loving family was his whole world. His eyes would light up each time he saw them. He gave so much of himself to them with his love and affection. He was always appreciative and forever grateful. Fernando would never leave without saying “thank you, thank you, thank you.” Everything he said was truly from the heart- you could always feel Fernando’s love. He enjoyed gardening, watching his great-grandchildren’s soccer games, family gathering, reading and sweets- especially chocolate covered donuts with sprinkles. Fernando was always so generous giving whatever he could to anyone. He loved giving his neighbors, family and friends vegetables that he grew in his garden. Fernando leaves his loving son, Fernando Dias, his devoted and loving daughter, Anna Vital, and her husband, Tony; his cherished grandchildren, Jason DaCruz and wife Allyson, Melissa Premo and husband Ian, Shawn DaCruz and fiancé Brittanie, Nina Vital, Tanya Vital husband Marvin, Eric Dias and Corey Dias; his precious great-grandchildren, Jayden, Maria, Cruz, Landon, Calla, Sadie, Hannah, Audrey, and Linkys; as well as his brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, godchildren and special friends. A special thanks to Penny Pascale, his PCA. Sadly, Fernando was predeceased by his loving wife, Maria Dias and grandson Ryan Dias. He leaves an emptiness in the hearts of so many, especially in the hearts of his “bubble.” We will always give his love, as he always gave his. Funeral services for Fernando will be held on Monday March 22, 2021 from the Ludlow Funeral Home. A Public walk-thru visitation will be from 8:45-10:00am, observing social distancing and non contact with his family. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by his burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Donations in Fernando’s memory may be made to St. Judes.
