Obituary for Fernando G. Martins
Fernando G. Martins, 71, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Montalegre, Portugal, son of the late Joaquim and Laurinda (Goncalves) Martins, he immigrated to the United States and became a U.S. citizen. In 1970, Fernando enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged on June 24, 1972. He then worked for many years at Rexcel and Danaher Tool Group and in his spare time, he enjoyed reading and cooking. Fernando leaves his loving sons Steven Martins and wife Sharon, of Ludlow, and Jeffrey Martins and wife Melissa, of Belchertown; his 5 grandsons Christian, Adrian, Jaxson, Greyson, and Ethan; his former spouse Isabel Martins; his brothers Jack Martins and wife Dee, of South Carolina, Joe Martins and wife Lori, of Ludlow, and Tony Martins and wife Celia, of Ludlow; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. Family and friends are asked to attend visiting hours for Fernando on Friday, October 27th from 4:00-7:00pm in Ludlow Funeral Home. Final interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
