Obituary for Fernando Machado
Fernando Ferreira Machado, 79, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 13, 2021. Born in Chaves, Trás os Montes, Portugal, son of the late Belmiro and Maria (Ferreira) Machado, he emigrated from Portugal in 1974 and has lived in Ludlow for many years and where he was a faithful communicant and eucharistic minister of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. He was also a proud member of the Gremio Lusitano Club and in his free time, enjoyed time with his family and playing sueca.
Fernando was the beloved husband of the late Marcelina (Vaz) Machado, who predeceased him in January of this year; loving father to Christina Brown and her husband Kevin of Ludlow; adored grandfather to Alexandre and Madeline; the dear brother to Jose Machado, of Portugal, and the late Maria Jose Machado, Carminda (Machado) Martins, and Iracema Machado; and also leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family members and dear friends both here and in Portugal.
Funeral services for Fernando will be held on Friday November 19, 2021 at the Ludlow Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:15-10:15am, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Mass celebrated at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery.
At the family's request, please wear masks while attending the services for Fernando.
