Obituary for Florence L. (Bullock) McCarthy
Florence L. (Bullock) McCarthy, 83, of Palmer, died peacefully on July 6, 2014. Born in East Longmeadow, she was a graduate of Technical High School in Springfield and worked for many years at Digital Equipment Co. Florence was a longtime Brimfield/Palmer resident where she also served for many years as a clerk within the Palmer municipal offices before her retirement. She also belonged to the Quabog Valley Co Op, where she resided, and served on its board for many years. She was an avid quilter and loved her cats. Florence was the wife of the late Joseph McCarthy, who predeceased her in 2006; mother to Robert Auger and wife Arminda, of Wilbraham, and Marsha Yoder and husband Larry, of Lakeland FL; grandmother to Justin and Jennifer Auger, and Michael Yoder; a dear sister to Ruth Pringle and husband Roland, of Ukiah, CA, and the late Maynard Jr., Everett, and William Bullock; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends, especially Edward Choquette, a devoted friend.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Florence’s memory to the Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Adoption Center 627 Cottage Street
Springfield, MA 01104 (www.tjofoundation.org) or Rays of Hope for Breast Cancer Research c/o Baystate Health Foundation, 280 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01199.

Visiting hours for Florence are on Wednesday, July 9th from 6:00-8:00pm at Ludlow Funeral Home concluding with a Celebration of Life service at 8:00pm. Friends and family are also asked to gather on Thursday, July 10th at 10:00am at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam for a committal services.
