Obituary for Florence (Pereira) Mathias
Florence (Pereira) Mathias died peacefully on Monday, April 30th. Florence was born in Ludlow to Francisco & Joaquina (Dias) Pereira.
Inspired by her love of reading, Florence was employed at the Ludlow Town Library for many years before retiring at the age of 78. She was active in the Portuguese American Citizens Club, serving on the Board of Directors for many years.
Florence leaves her 3 children, Carolyn Therrien and her husband Tom of East Hartford Ct , Robert Mathias and his wife Bonnie of Ludlow, and Marc Mathias and his wife Karen of Windsor CT. She also leaves her grandchildren Jason Mazur, Robert Mathias, Jennifer Hackworth and Colleen Mathias; as well as 3 Great Children, Madison & Cameron Mathias and Lylah Mazur. The youngest of 6 children, Florence was predeceased by her siblings John Pereira, Rose Andre, Gloria Creighton, Pat Pare, & Ann Horvath. She leaves many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Florence are on Friday, May 4th at 10:00am in Ludlow Funeral Home followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting Hours are on Thursday from 5:00-7:00pm and Preceding the funeral on Friday from 9:15 to 10:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hubbard Memorial Library http://www.hubbardlibrary.org/files/hubbard_docs/donationform.pdf.
