Obituary for Florinda dos Santos Chaves
Florinda dos Santos Chaves, 93, of Ludlow, passed away on November 9, 2024. Born in Vale de Anta, Chaves, Portugal on January 27, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Jose and Aurinda (Dias) dos Santos.
Florinda worked at Spaulding for about 9 years before retiring to help care for her grandchildren. Her greatest love was her family. She absolutely adored her large family. She especially enjoyed dancing with her husband Jose with whom she was married to for 32 years before his passing.
Florinda loved her garden and loved spending time outside. She was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church.
Florinda is survived by her daughter Maria Luzio and son-in-law Candido and daughter-in-law Maria Chaves, all of Ludlow; and her son Adriano Chaves of Portugal.
As well as her siblings; Jorge Santos and wife Vicky, Armand Santos and wife Patty , David Santos and wife Celeste, Irene Batista and husband Joaquim all of Ludlow; Adriano Santos, Alzira Mesquita and Leonor Ramão, all of Chaves, Portugal and her sisters-in-law Laura and Lynn of Ludlow.
She also leaves behind her grandchildren; Matthew Chaves, Jessica Silva and husband Wescley, Andrew Luzio and wife Cassie, Briana Luzio, Jonathon Chaves and wife Gina, Tyler Chaves and wife Marie, Caitlyn Chaves, Catia and Liana Chaves.
Florinda was also blessed with 8 great-grandchildren; Meya, Preston, Arianne, Milenni, Luanni, Lilyana, Marley, and Harper.
She also leave behind many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Sadly Florinda was predeceased by her husband Jose, sons Jaime and João and her brothers João, Antonio, and André Santos.
The family of Florinda would like to thank the wonderful people who have come into her life over the last year and half to help the family take such great care of her. Judith was an amazing caregiver and the team at Baystate hospice whom got to know Florinda and take such wonderful care of her.
Visiting hours for Florinda will be on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 9:00-10:15 at Ludlow Funeral Home followed by Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Parish followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
