Francis H. Papianou, 92, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Francis (Butch) enlisted in the United States Navy proudly serving his country during the Korean War from 1952-1956 aboard the USS Ingraham. After his honorable discharge, Butch entered the workforce and spent a majority of his career as a purchasing agent for Diamond Match. Within the community, he was very active alongside his wife Jane in the First Presbyterian Church in Holyoke/Granby.
He also enjoyed playing in various bowling, horseshoe, and golf leagues as well as showcasing his talent as a magician.
Butch was the beloved husband of the late Jane Ann (MacDonald) Papianou who predeceased him in 2006; and loving companion to the late Florida Natle. He was also the loving father to Matthew J. Papianou and his wife Deb Watson of Westwood, MA., Stewart J. Papianou and his former wife Sue of Chicopee, and Russell J. Papianou of Southwick; a cherished grandfather to Christina, Michael, Angela, and April; and great grandfather to Colton, Grayson, and Etta; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services for Francis will be held Monday, May 5th. Visiting hours are from 11:00am-12:30pm at Ludlow Funeral Home concluding with a chapel service at 12:30pm followed by procession to Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam for burial services with Military Honors at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Francis’s memory to any local Veterans organization.
