Obituary for Francis "Frank" Curto
Francis J. Curto, 66, of Three Rivers, passed away unexpectedly on March 22, 2018. Born in Springfield, son of the late Thomas and Rosemary (Durant) Curto, he grew up in Ludlow and resided in Monson for most of his adult life before recently moving to Palmer. Frank was a 1970 graduate of Ludlow H.S. and a 1972 graduate of Northampton Junior College.
Frank was passionate about the environment. In 1984, he founded Solar Services of New England, one of the first solar panel installation companies in New England. He operated Solar Services until his death. He also worked for over 20 years at Monson Developmental Center. In his community, Frank loved working with kids. He coached virtually every youth sport in Monson and Palmer, including football, soccer, basketball, baseball and softball. He served as the President of the Palmer Cowboys Youth Football Organization and for a number of years was the Commissioner of the Suburban Amateur Football League, a youth league that served most of the Springfield area. He also loved the ocean and vacationing in York, ME and Myrtle Beach, SC. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren.
Frank will be remembered as a generous and caring man who was always there to help his family, friends, and neighbors. Frank was the best friend of 48 years to Susan Curto; a devoted father to Daniel Curto and wife Lisa, Sarah Fernandes and husband Armand, Abigail O’Sullivan and husband Michael, and John Curto and wife Barbara; a beloved Nono to Jacob, Abby, Hailey, Ryan, Brayden, Grayson, Cameron, Margaret Rose, and the late Austin; a dear brother to Thomas, Louis, Tony, and Joseph Curto, Mary Jo Cristina, and the late Roseanne Carlson; the cherished nephew of his late aunts Sissie Marion and Auntie Anna; and also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, and their families, extended family members and dear friends.
At his request, there will be no calling hours for Frank. Family and Friends may gather for a funeral liturgy on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut St. in Springfield with Ludlow Funeral Home entrusted with the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Rays of Hope (bayhf.convio.net).
