Frederick Gamache, III, 71, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025. Fred was born in Springfield on December 9, 1953 to Frederick Gamache Jr. and Stephanie Pyzocha. He moved to Ludlow as a child and was a 1972 graduate of Springfield Technical/Vocational School. Fred was a United States Army Veteran proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War, and upon his honorable discharge in 1977, he went on to serve 27 years in the reserves retiring in 2005. Fred worked for 7 years at Chapman Valve/Crane Co. and in 1982 began a dedicated 30 year career with the Ludlow Fire Department. In his spare time, he also ran his own welding company and upon his retirement from LFD in 2010, he worked for Ludlow Funeral Home and Gemco. Fred was very active within the Ludlow community, especially as a faithful and devoted member of Christ the King Parish where he was a eucharistic minister, CCD director since 1992, a 5th grade CCD teacher, and spent much of his time volunteering in the Chapel of Adoration. He was also a member and volunteer at the Polish American Citizens Club and enjoyed working its Wednesday night bingos. Fred leaves his beloved son Frederick J. Gamache and wife Amanda, of Florida; his cherished grandchildren Madison, Gabriel, Greysen, and Magnolia; his sisters Sandra Wesolowski and husband Paul, and Linda Munson and husband George; nieces Geneva and Katie; grand-niece Annabelle; and grand-nephews Gauge, Trenton and Bode; as well as many loving extended family members, friends, and colleagues. Visiting hours for Fred will be held on Monday, June 16th from 5:00-7:00pm at Ludlow Funeral Home. Funeral services are on Tuesday, June 17th at 9:00am from the funeral home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Christ the King Church followed by burial with Military Honors in St. Brigid’s Cemetery in Easthampton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fred’s memory to Christ the King CCD Program.
