Obituary for Gabriel Rodrigues
Gabriel Rodrigues, 93, of Indian Orchard, was called home to be with God on Sunday, March 25, 2007. Born in Chaves, Portugal, he came to Ludlow in 1976 and settled in Indian Orchard in 1979. He was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and worked for many years at the Mayflower Corporation in Indian Orchard before his retirement in 1982. In Portugal, Gabriel was a Pastor and owner of several olive oil fields, and enjoyed traveling, quite often, to Portugal and Brazil. Gabriel was predeceased by his beloved wife Herminia (Rosa) Rodrigues who died in 2004. They were married on March 28, 1938 and spent 65 wonderful years together. He leaves his loving children; Manuel Rodrigues and his wife Adelina of Brazil, Candida Goncalves and her husband Antonio of Ludlow, Palmira Goncalves of Brazil, Matilde Rodrigues and her husband Juvenal of Pinebush, NY., and Maria Jorge and her husband Armenio of Indian Orchard; 10 cherished grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren who will miss him deeply; as well as several loving nieces and nephews in Portugal. He was also predeceased by his daughter Fatima Rodrigues and his two brothers Jose Rua and Antero Rua. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning March 28, 2007 at 9:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday evening from 6-9pm.
