Obituary for Gary "Red" Goodreau
Gary Francis Goodreau, “Red” age 61 passed away peacefully on July 15th, 2019. He leaves his children Joseph and Jenna, his brothers Roy (Maria) and James, his sister Pamela (Wayne) Hayes and many nieces, nephews, relatives, close friends and his former spouse Carol. He was predeceased by his parents Jean (Butler) and Roy Goodreau. Gary was born in Ludlow, MA and graduated from Ludlow High School; he was a Master Electrician and worked for the I.B.E.W Local 7 for over 30 years. Red was a hardworking man who loved nothing more than drinking a cold beer with his friends at the picnic table, spending the day in the woods and being with his family. He was a huge Boston sports fan, he loved to do crossword puzzles and he was also a Jeopardy master. His favorite thing by far was spending time with his two children and their dog Sugar. In the words of Red, “The only thing better than me, would be two of me”. Funeral services for Red will be held on Tuesday July 23, 2019 from the Ludlow Funeral Home. Family and friends are asked to gather at the funeral home at 9:30am, a chapel service will begin at 10:00am followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Monday evening from 5:00-7:00pm. In lieu of flowers it was the wish of Red’s family that donations be made in his memory to: The Dana Farber Cancer Institute @ dana-farber.org.
