Obituary for Gary Richard

Gary Richard, 81, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Joseph and Jeannette (Bousquet) Richard and lived most of his life in Ludlow. Gary served in the United States Navy from 1960-1964, and upon his honorable discharge, he briefly worked construction. He then began a long career as a Master Carpenter and was employed for over 20 years at Kitchens by Herzenberg from where he retired. Gary was an avid outdoorsman enjoying deer hunting, fishing, kayaking, and riding motorcycles. He also loved exploring New England on long car rides, and routing for the New England Patriots. Over his lifetime, he enjoyed many different hobbies including beekeeping, horseback riding, beer & wine making, as well as gardening-just to mention a few; but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. Gary was the beloved husband of 60 years to Martha (Klassanos) Richard; a loving father to Stephanie Richard, of Chicopee and Michael Richard and wife Shelley, of Belchertown; a devoted grandfather to Meghan and Shane LaPointe, and Julia and Joe-Ann Richard; a dear brother to Russell Richard and wife Karen, of N.C. and Kenneth Richard, of ME; and also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Funeral services for Gary will be held privately by his family and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Tunnels 2 Towers Foundation (t2t.org) for the benefit of housing our nation’s veterans.
