Obituary for Gary "Zun" Ziencina
Gary “Zun” Ziencina, 52, of Ludlow was called safely home on Monday, April 19, 2010. Born in Ludlow, he was the son of the late and former Ludlow Selectmen, Mitchell and Helen (Talbot) Ziencina. Zun was a life long Ludlow resident and graduate of Ludlow High School in 1976 earning a Bachelors Degree in 1980 from Western New England College. A faithful communicant of Christ the King Church, he also belonged to the Polish American Citizens Club and Portuguese American Citizens Club. Zun was a Charter Member, Recording Secretary and Booster Club Member of the Thanksgiving Day Football Breakfast of the Unity AC Club in Ludlow. Zun was a caring and trusted staff member for over 25 years, holding that position under State Representatives William Mullins, Ken Lemanski and Michael Walsh. He was also the long time Chief of Staff for Ludlow State Representative Thomas Petrolati, the Speaker Pro Tempore of the Massachusetts House of Representatives. He served the people of Western Massachusetts and Ludlow for almost thirty years. Zun was an avid sports fan. He loved the Green & Gold of the Green Bay Packers and visited the legendary Lambeau Field many times and was a long time season ticket holder of the Umass Minutemen Basketball team and Boston Red Sox; he also always cheered for long time friend Dean Lombardi’s NHL hockey teams. Zun will be remembered for his infectious smile and warm heart. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew him. He leaves his caring aunts, Josie Swartz and Vivian Talbot of Ludlow; his six cousins and many loved and cherished friends, colleagues both in Ludlow, the Massachusetts State House and throughout the community. He leaves behind a very large Family of Friends. Funeral services for Gary will be held on Saturday, April 24th, 2010. Family and friends are asked to gather for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Christ the King Church, with burial to follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday afternoon from 3:00-6:00pm at the Ludlow Funeral Home, 432 East St. Donations may be made in Gary’s memory to: Randall’s Boys and Girls Club, Claudia’s Way, Ludlow, MA. 01056.
