Obituary for George DePonte
George DePonte, 82, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2022 while his brother Joe was by his side. A lifelong resident of Ludlow, George served in the Air National Guard and then took up chicken farming for several decades with his father and brother at DePonte’s Farm. George also ran DePonte’s Nursery with the family, selling Christmas trees and landscaping to loyal customers throughout New England. An avid car enthusiast, George loved to visit car shows and buy and work on vintage cars. He had an easy laugh, enjoyed beach visits, watching westerns, and hosting family and friends at Christmas. Predeceased by his parents, Jennie Enos and Joseph DePonte Sr. and his stepmother, Mary Lourdes, whom he cared for in her later years, George leaves his beloved life partner, Linda Bretta, his dear brother and confidante Joseph DePonte, Jr., loving nephews and nieces, grand-nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visiting hours for George will be held on Saturday, April 9 from 8:30 - 10:30 am at the Ludlow Funeral Home followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery.
