Obituary for George E "Lint" Kinney
George E. "Lint" Kinney,83, formerly of Palmer, was called to Heaven on October 31, 2010. Born in Oakland Beach, Warwick, RI, son of the late George and Viola (Leavitt) Kinney, he lived most of his life in Palmer and worked for many years at Moore Drop Forge before his retirement. George was a United States Navy Veteran proudly serving his country from 1944-1953 during WWII and was also recipient of the WWII Victory Medal. He also loved camping and was a member of the Good Sams of Rhode Island. George was the beloved husband of the late Mary Viola (McCarthy) Kinney, who predeceased him in 1999; a loving father to Bill Kinney, of Chicopee and Lynn Thompson, of Ludlow; a cherished grandfather to Kristina Guimond, of Ware, William Thompson Jr., of Ludlow, and Jennifer Kinney, also of Ware; great-grandfather of Alexis, Devon, and Ariana Gonet, of Ware; a cherished nephew to Dorothy Hicks, of Warwick RI and Clayton Leavitt, of West Warwick RI; and cousin to Raymond Hicks, of Hope Valley RI. George also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends in Mass and Rhode Island. All funeral services were held privately by the family.
